New Projects for a New Year

Saturday was a fun day around here. While I should have been putting away my Christmas decorations, I was merrily sewing away for a few hours. It’s been ages since I’ve done that and it felt luxurious. (The only hiccup was when I bumped my ironing board and the iron fell on the floor, hot-side down on the carpet. Good think I already know the value of having an extra iron on hand!)
My husband was equally happy watching hours of College football Bowl games and even offered to keep track of the children AND make dinner. Lovely. So here are a couple of the projects I’ve been working on. More pictures of finished projects to come!

Our Christmas holiday was fantastic. The best part: everyone miraculously stayed healthy (except the computer) and we were able to spend lots of time with extended family including cute cousins who live out of state. Great news.

But I must admit I’ve been looking forward to today and getting back into my routine and catching up on computer-related stuff. I thought I would have some big blocks of time to get to things today but I’ve already had to re-work around the suddenly changed pre-school playgroup schedule (much to the dismay of my 4-yr-old) and make two extra trips to the Elementary school to deliver a left-behind back pack and to pick up my daughter who has a stomach ache. So much for back to normal. Wait . . . this IS normal.

PS Many thanks for all of the interest expressed in the quilt I made for my sister for Christmas. I wish I had a pattern to share, but I made up most of it as I went along. However, you’ve motivated me to perhaps put all the math on paper and publish one. . . I’ll keep you posted on that one.

So how did your carpet turn out, what with the hot iron landing on it and all? I love your blocks, that fabric always tempts me when I see it. So so cute!

The carpet was mostly unharmed (at least not noticeably) but the iron came up with a layer of melted nylon goo. Fortunately once the iron cooled, I've been able to peel most of it off. It's my $5 thrifted Rowenta so it wouldn't have been the end of the world, but it's a great iron so I still would have been sad if it was a loss. I think I will continue to stick with $5 thrifted

Nice to see some new projects coming on. Wish I had a few hours to sew away… Soon, when school starts again. Curious about the Chrysalis.

I love the alphabet fabric – what line is it from? Or were you lucky enough to stumble upon it somewhere? I love, love, love your blog! Part of my daily ritual now!

This pic of your Chyrsalis has forced me to use my last pre-cuts of my Arcadia (I know, it's been way too long!). Anywho, do you know if this line would coordinate well with Arcadia. I will definately need some more orange and thought the viney pattern would look nice if they do. Thanks so much!!!
