A little while ago I filmed a class about Intermediate Strip-Piecing skills, featuring three different strip piecing quilt patterns. This class has just been released on the Riley Blake Designs YouTube Channel and you can now watch the entire class for free!
The class includes video step-by-step instructions for all three patterns + downloadable PDF supplemental materials. Here's an intro and preview that will take you to the full series of video classes. (Don't mind the slightly creepy face in the freeze frame. 😉 I think it gets better from there.)
You can find the free-printable PDF supplement HERE.
Here's a little preview of the quilt patterns I teach in this video class. These patterns build off my love of strip-piecing and short-cuts to give you quilts that look much more complex than they really are.
The class includes video step-by-step instructions for all three patterns that coordinate with the downloadable PDF supplemental materials. (You will need the printable PDF to give you the fabric requirements and measurements to finish these quilts.)
Three Strip Piecing Quilt Patterns
The first quilt is an Hour Glass Pinwheel Quilt. This quilt is made using pre-cut 2 ½" strips - perfect for saving time + a variety of fabrics for a scrappy fun look.
Here's a variation using Gingham Girls fabric to show how it looks with a different color palette.
The second quilt is called Spinning Stars. This quilt takes the strip-piecing technique from the Pinwheel Quilt and adds on demonstrations of how to sew with Inset Seams to make a much more complex looking star block. I'll walk you through all the steps and you'll see how easy it is to put this block together.
Here's another version of this block, again using a different color palette.
Finally, I'll show you how to use the remnants from the Spinning Stars quilt to make this bonus baby quilt.
These three patterns are exclusive to this class. Not only will you get the patterns for the three quilts listed, but I also hope you'll build some great intermediate-piecing skills to use in lot of future projects!
And speaking of Riley Blake Designs, their big event of the year, Garden of Quilts at Thanksgiving Point is coming up next week!
Just yesterday I finally got all of my kids back to school. So I'm finally buckling down to get ready for my class. I'm so excited! Unfortunately the class is full, but I will be sharing a trunk show Saturday morning at 10:00 at the Waterfall Amphitheater.
And - the best news - all trunk shows, demos, etc are included in the price of the admission ticket!
You can get all of the details about Garden of Quilts here.
