I learned something recently - February is National Embroidery Month. Apparently, it's a thing! And in honor of National Embroidery Month, Missouri Star Quilt Company has introduced two new, exclusive hand embroidery kits.
The first kit is a perfect introductory to hand embroidery. This kit comes in a teal bag with all the supplies you need to get started right away including:
- Instructional booklet
- Missouri Star needle minder
- 7" Embroidery hoop
- 8 skeins of DMC floss
- Floss spools
- Needle Threader
- Embroidery needles
- scissors
- Pre-printed fabric stitch guide
- Pre-printed wash-away design sheets
- Blank wash-away design sheet
- 16" x 27" white cotton tea towel
The handy spiral booklet included has instruction for multiple different embroidery stitches. Then practice 11 stitches on the pre-printed fabric stitch guide.
After practicing the different stitches, you can the put them to use using numerous designs that can be traced from the booklet or use with the 9 ready-to-go embroidery Peel and Stitch designs.
This kit is the perfect tool to help you get started with hand embroidery - or help a friend or a child learn and build hand embroidery skills.
You can also watch the Hand Embroidery series on YouTube with demo's of each of the stitches.
Ingrid's Wildflowers Hand Embroidery Kit
The second kit is a step up from a beginner-level project. This kit, called Ingrid's Wildflowers, comes in a beautiful keepsake tin box. (I feel like the box alone is such a pretty container for all future hand embroidery projects!)
The Ingrid's Wildflowers kit contains
- 20 wildflower preprinted Peel and Stitch Washaway embroidery sheets
- Instruction cards including 20 stitch guides for the printed wildflower designs
- 10 balls of 10oz Perle Cotton embroidery floss
- Notions including: 2 needles, 1 needle minder, 1 needle threader and embroidery scissors
- a gorgeous 7" Beechwood embroidery hoop
These heirloom-style wildflower designs are inspired by the wildflower denim squares embroidered by Jenny Doan's grandmother and later pieced into a nostalgic quilt.
The kit also contains instructions to piece your own denim quilt. And Missouri Star offers the fabric req's in a finishing kit if you want to make one just like Jenny's.
Or, you can use the peel-and-stick designs to embellish anything you want, including bags, denim jackets, jeans, hats, etc. The Peel-and-stick sheets make it so much easier to transfer a design onto a place that would be impossible to trace a design. After you stitch over the printed motif, you just rinse under running water and the peel-and-stick mesh disappears!
You can see Jenny and Natalie talking more about the Ingrid's Wildflowers project on their YouTube channel.

I'm not getting the discount using either link. Am I doing something wrong?
Amy
Hi! Great question. The discount will show automatically when you go to check out, but not before then.

I a looking for a cross stitch blanket that depicts Black people on it for a black child, I have not seen any. It’s been hard to do the hair on it or the face. Marcia
