Sharing a bit of what's on my sewing table today. But first, a HUGE THANK YOU for the response to my 15th Anniversary post - 15 Lessons I've Learned in 15 Years. I was blown away by the response. Thank you so much for all of your kind words and sentiments. I wish I could respond to them all individually, but since I can not, please know how grateful I am. THANK YOU.
Now - back to what I'm working on now... a little Valentines' sewing, pulling out a favorite scrap project to finish up, and starting the 2024 Riley Blake Quilt Block challenge! Read on!
Free Valentine Mini Quilt Pattern
This week I started on a fun little Valentine's mini quilt project from The Fat Quarter Shop.
You can find the free quilt pattern PDF download here as well as a coordinating kit with fabric by J. Wecker Frisch. You can find the free cross-stitch pattern here.
Here's my pile of fabric. The red prints, stripe and the Valentine toile are from J. Wecker Frisch's All My Heart collection.
The pink prints are from Sandy Gervais' I Love Us collection. For the background print I'm using Riley Blake's Heart Seasonal Basic. (You could also substitute this similar pink Blossom print.
And here's a fun little additional tool I've started using for fussy-cutting:
The Cute Cuts rulers by Lori Holt are perfect for fussy-cutting squares. The rulers come in a large variety of square sizes and have the ¼" seam allowance all the way around the 4 edges. This allows you to center the ruler with the fussy-cut element in the center. I used the 2" ruler to cut the cute little vintage house print.
Also on my cutting table: Prepping for the 2024 Riley Blake Quilt Block Challenge:
This year's challenge started last week. I'm excited to sew along with this one too! (You can see last year's quilt here.) I'll be sharing more about the challenge + my free quilt block next week, so stay tuned!
I'm planning to use my new Albion collection - which hits stores in March! All I have right now are scraps of strike-off prints so I'm trying to be strategic with my planning.
Finally, I've pulled out the box of scrappy log cabin blocks + scraps to finish this quilt that I started last fall.
These blocks are calling to me. The past few weeks have included deadline sewing + lots of less-exciting maintenance work going on around here: including, house, website, emails, taxes, car, health. You know, the boring but important stuff.
Today I'm making it a goal to finally just sit and sew for fun. Wish me luck!
