I used the pattern in the book to start a collection of 'Mama Blocks'. I love the look of these blocks and have wanted to make some for a while. I love Lori's system of creating your own precuts from your scraps and leftovers and as a result I had a stack of 2 ½" squares that were just right for starting these blocks.
I made nine of them and haven't decided if I'm going to just turn this into a little mini quilt or keep going and make it bigger. Aren't they cute? They will probably live on my design wall for a time while I decide. Be sure to check out the versions at Nana Company and Little Miss Shabby.
Here's a sample of the green monochromatic churn dash blocks I'm working on. This week we will assemble the blocks and add the borders. Here's a link to the Churn Dash quilt pattern. I love the variety of fabrics and colors that can be used for this quilt. Happy quilting!
