    Quilt the Rainbow Inspiration

Modified: Jul 13, 2022 · Published: Jul 6, 2022 by Amy Smart · This post may contain affiliate links · 3 Comments

I'm excited to share this guest post today from creative contributor, Amber Johnson of Gigi's Thimble Quilt Patterns. Amber is a fantastic quilt pattern designer and has a beautiful eye for color and fabrics as well. Amber has a brand new book in stores now called Quilt the Rainbow. You will be inspired by all of her beautiful, colorful quilts! That cover quilt alone takes my breath away!

Hello, hello!  It's Amber Johnson here of Gigi's Thimble Quilt Patterns.  Amy invited me to share with you a little bit about my new book called, Quilt the Rainbow.  It hit stores June 1st, 2022 and I am thrilled to share the patterns and inspiration behind the book with you today.

    The INSPIRATION:

One day I was staring at my fabric stash that I have organized in stacks by color and thought to myself, wouldn't it be nice to have patterns to help me whittle down each color of my stash?  I instantly knew I needed to do a book to compose all of these patterns together in one place.

    Sew Delightful Quilt

I wanted to call it, Quilt the Rainbow.  My publisher, Martingale, said they hadn't done anything like that concept before and luckily they trusted my idea and the title!  I am so glad they took a chance on it because I think the quilts are really fun and the book itself turned out beautiful!

    THE RAINBOW QUILTS:

There are 10 stash-friendly projects that would be cute in any color way and are great for all skill levels!  I'd love to know which project is your favorite!

    BONUS CONTENT:

I was thrilled to also include the meaning/symbolism of each color, how to cut and store fabric for scrap quilts, how to choose fabrics for beautiful, cohesive scrap quilts, how to make scrappy quilt backs, how to make scrappy bindings, how to spiderweb piece, all the quilt-making basics you need to know, and some of my favorite time-saving notions.

It's chock-full of useful information and inspiring photography!  And of course, if you're not a "scrappy" quilter you could make the patterns in just a few specific fabrics!  All of the patterns are easily adaptable to whatever fabrics and size you prefer!
