There's a lot of red, white, and blue fabric on my sewing table right now, and I'll just say, I'm enjoying all of it! his week is block #12 of the 2021 Riley Blake Quilt Block Challenge.
This week's block is called Nine-Patch Star and is designed by Gerri Robinson of Planted Seed Design.
You can download the free Nine Patch Star quilt block pattern here.
As with any quilt block, it's so amazing how changing the color or fabric placement can change the whole look of the quilt. Check out this version Gerri mocked up using variations of the Nine Patch Star block pattern. It's so cool!
And here are my 12 blocks so far. As the number grows, I'm so excited by how interesting they look all together! You can find PDF patterns of all 12 blocks here.
Next week is a catch up week and in June, the final 4 block patterns will all be released - and then the finishing instructions. I'm really excited to see this quilt come together.
For my blocks I’m using the red, white, and blue prints from my Notting Hill fabric collection paired with an assortment of Riley Blake Confetti Cottons in Cloud, Songbird, Tearose, Redwood, and Oxford Blue.
In other red, white, and blue fun, here's a peek at what else I'm working on. I've been cutting into a combination of Riley Blake fabrics from 2 patriotic collections: Land of Liberty and Let Freedom Soar as well as some RBD basics in Blossom, Swiss Dot, and Stripes. They play so well together!
I'm using Christopher Thompson's Indigo chambray woven as a background and I LOVE how the red, white and blue prints pop.
I'm remaking my Summer Bunting pattern. It's such a quick and fun pattern - plus it's perfect for showing off large scale prints and letting the fabric designs do all of the heavy lifting. I was working on this quilt for the Summer Bunting class I taught for My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe. It's an online class and available for viewing anytime here.
And I've got yet another red, white, and blue quilt to share later this week! 'Tis the season for summer, I guess.
