Every few years I like to remake one of my patterns in a new color palette. This summer I worked on an updated version of my Brickyard pattern. This pattern works great for working with ¼ yards. It’s also a perfect pattern for using precut 10″ squares (aka a Layer Cake or 10″ Stacker.)

Sewing with precuts is one of my favorite ways to easily get a variety of beautifully coordinated prints with out having to buy a ton of fabric. Using precuts saves both time and money.

You might even have a Layer Cake or two lying around waiting for the right project. Well, if you’re looking for a way to use them, this is a great quick and simple option.

This pattern was designed with large rectangle blocks specifically for the purpose of showing-off beautiful large-scale prints.

This version was made featuring Minki Kim’s latest collection, In The After Glow. It’s such a gorgeous color palette in aquas, pinks, corals, grays, lavenders, and faded black. One 10″ Stacker + fabric for borders, background and binding.
I used the midnight gingham print on the bias for the binding. Can never go wrong with a bias gingham binding, in my opinion.

My Girlfriends’ Quilt Shoppe has a handful of quilt kits available for this quilt.

You can find Minki Kim’s In The After Glow collection available now. Hopefully it’s in your local quilt shop. If not, you can find available from Cottoneer as well as assorted Etsy shops online.

The quilting is by Sew Shabby Quilting using the Classic Blossoms pattern. I love how the fluffy curves of the flower petals compliment the florals in the prints and contrast with the angular lines of the quilt pattern. Ties everything together!

In honor of this updated version of Brickyard, this pattern is marked down 20% off in my shop this week! Both digital PDF version and printed version.

It’s a great one to have on had for busting through your stash! For more color palette inspiration, you can see previous versions of Brickyard here:

As you can see it works great for bright colors. Or try using a dark sashing fabric if you’re working with a more washed out color palette or prints with lots of light backgrounds like the one below:

The Brickyard quilt pattern is on sale this week only – thru Sept 24 so grab it while you can!

So, this also works with FQS’s Jolly Bars, yes?

Brickyard Quilt in those fabrics is so pretty. I can picture it on a twin bed in a girls room.
